It is nothing less than shock therapy! Reliance Jio has revised its entire prepaid recharge packs in the face of fierce competition from Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. Guess what! RJio is offering no less than 3GB data per day benefit now! As if even this was not enough, RJio is giving between 3GB data per day to a massive 6.5GB data per day and that too at a low-budget. RJio is called a disruptor, because of its market strategy of giving heavy data, unlimited calls, cashback offers and cheap recharge packs. And this move today, justifies that tag. Today, Reliance Jio openly declared war against Bharti Airtel by releasing a chart of comparison between their packs and the Sunil Mittal led company. Although, the packs were specifically compared with Airtel, but looking at the offers of RJio you can be sure that no other telcos like Vodafone, Idea Cellular and even BSNL are giving such benefits.

Reliance Jio launched a massive onslaught by saying, “In a recent move, Airtel introduced 1GB/day additional data on Rs 149 and Rs 399 price points ONLY for a limited set of Airtel users.”

Reliance Jio added, “Jio will now provide 1.5GB/day additional Jio 4G data to EVERY JIO USER who recharges with any daily-recurring data pack.”

Reliance Jio emerges on top for now! However, the response from Airtel is awaited. In any case, this rivalry is making phone users smile. They are getting more and more benefits even as prices that are being charged are falling to unheard of lows!

Let’s have a comparison between RJio and Airtel.

Starting with lowest plan of Airtel’s Rs 99 which gives 1GB data for a period of 10 days. This RJio takes on with Rs 98 pack where it is giving 2GB data for 28 days.

Rs 149 pack

Airtel under this recharge plan gives 2GB data per day for 28 days. Overall 56GB data is given to prepaid customers. However the offer is valid only to selective circles and not open to all.

In this, RJio is giving 3GB data per day for 28 days which is a total 84GB data is given to customers.

Rs 199, Rs 198 pack

Airtel has a Rs 199 pack where it is giving 1.4GB data per day for 28 days which would be a total 39GB data.

Under this plan, RJio is giving a massive 3.5GB data daily for 28 days. Overall 98 GB data is given.

Rs 299, Rs 349 pack

Where RJio is giving 4.5GB data per day for 28 days at just Rs 299, Airtel is giving just 3GB data per day at Rs 349.

Under this pack, Airtel is giving a total 84GB data, while RJio is giving 126GB data.

Rs 399 pack

Both Airtel and RJio has Rs 399 recharge pack. Airtel gives a total 2.4GB data per day for 84 days which would be total 201GB data. Here RJio is giving 3GB data for the same period having a total of 252GB data.

It needs to be noted that, this Airtel pack is also for only specific circles and not open to all.

Rs 448 pack

Under this pack, Airtel is giving 1.4GB data for 82 days, whereas RJio is giving 3.5GB data per day for 84 days. Airtel is giving total 114GB data, while RJio is giving 294GB data overall.

Rs 509, Rs 499 pack

For 90 days, Airtel is giving a total 126GB data at Rs 509 which would work out to be 1.4GB data per day. This is not even near to what RJio is giving, the company gives 3.5GB data per day for 91 days at Rs 499 which is total 318GB data.

Apart from this, Airtel gives limited voice calls up to 250 minutes per day which is 1,000 minutes per week on all the above mentioned packs. Also such benefit is not available on roaming calls.

Whereas, RJio gives truly unlimited voice, sms and Jio apps benefits.

Here’s a list of offers RJio made.

  • 1.5GB/day data pack users - Rs 149, 349, 399, 449 will now get 3GB/day
  • 2GB/day data pack users - Rs 198, 398, 448, 498 will now get 5GB/day
  • 3GB/day data pack users - Rs 299 will now get 4.5GB/day
  • 4GB/day data pack users - Rs 509 will now get 5.5GB/day

This is not all, Jio also offers a Rs 100 discount on all recharges of Rs 300 and above and 20% on recharges below the Rs 300 price point, if the user recharges through the MyJio app and pays using PhonePe wallet.

Therefore, RJio has once again stirred a tariff war and how other telcos react to this will be keenly watched.
