Paytm parent One97 Communications Limited on Monday, September 4, announced the launch of a first of its kind device, Paytm Card Soundbox, which combines card payments with instant audio payment alerts. In a press release the fintech platform said that the Paytm Card Soundbox will revolutionise the way merchants and traders accept online and card payments.

“The company empowers merchants to accept both mobile and card payments across all Visa, Mastercard, American Express and RuPay networks through its iconic soundbox with ‘tap and pay’ that will help merchants scale their business,” Paytm said.  

The device comes with a host of new features, including the alerts in 11 languages that can be changed by the merchant through the Paytm for Business app.  

What are the features of Paytm Card Soundbox?

Both Mobile and Card Payments: Paytm has been a pioneer in introducing Soundbox services combined with QR code payment feature to the Indian market. The company earlier introduced the Paytm Pocket Soundbox to ease the on-the-go merchants' job and Paytm Music Soundbox to keep business owners entertained. Now, the Paytm Card Soundbox has taken the innovation a step further as merchants now don't have to keep a card machine with them as this Soundbox allows both mobile and card payments.

Unified Payments Solution: Installing the Paytm Card Soundbox solves two important problems. Firstly, a seller can accept payments via cards and secondly, all the transactions will be accompanied by an audio alert so that the merchant can know that the payment has been transferred successfully. This device merges the Soundbox technology with NFC or contactless debit and credit card payments.

Unique 'Tap and Pay' Feature: The Paytm Card Soundbox has a unique built-in 'tap and pay' feature that allows merchants to accept card payments of up to Rs 5,000. It allows customers to pay via a secured and convenient mode of payment and eradicates the limitations that a merchant faces without a card machine.

Multilingual Alerts and Connectivity: The first-of-its-kind device has been tailor-made for India's diverse needs as it is designed to deliver audio alerts in 11 languages that can be changed via the Paytm for Business app, therefore, several local merchants can use it. Moreover, it is backed by 4G network connectivity to ensure quick transactions.

Clarity and Uninterrupted Usage: The 4W speaker installed in the Paytm Card Soundbox enhances the clarity of audio payment alerts and leaves less room for mishearing. Further, this variant of Paytm Soundbox comes with a battery life of five days, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted usage of its services.
