The Centre for Railway  Information Systems (CRIS) has decided to rope in IT company Orchasp Limited for the conversion of the Freight Operating Information System (FOIS) from existing VB application to a web-based model.

CRIS is an organisation under the Ministry of Railways. It is a unique combination of competent IT professionals and Railway personnel enabling it to successfully deliver complex Railway IT systems. Since its inception, CRIS is developing/maintaining software for key functional areas of the Indian Railways.

As per the order, Orchasp Limited will provide various IT services to the national transporter. This is the first time in the history of the three-decade-old company that it has bagged such a contract from CRIS. 

Chandra Shekhar Pattapurathi, MD, Orchasp Limited, said, "We are very glad that the CRIS has shown faith in the company. The order is an attestation to the company's capabilities to deliver."

Orchasp has been providing end-to-end solutions in technical services, software development services, technical platforms and staff augmentations. 

The FOIS is used for logistic management of freight traffic. This system is currently accessible to users from different zones/divisions of Indian Railways that are connected to the Railway's closed dedicated network.
