Duty-free bags will be exempted from this additional baggage charge, the report said.
Passengers travelling from Jet Airways will now have to pay Rs 900 for extra cabin bags from Friday, said a Times of India report.
As per the report, flyers will be allowed to take a hand-bag weighing up to 7-10 kgs, depending on the class they are travelling in or whether they are Jet's Privilege platinum and gold members, a laptop bag and a women purse without any charge. But, exceeding to this, for any bag, passengers need to pay Rs 900.
This is applicable for passengers flying from the six metros. At the same time, duty-free bags will be exempted from this additional baggage charge, the report said.
Further, the report mentioned that with this extra charges, the company does not intend to generate any revenue. But, this move will allow passengers not to carry too many bags as this causes problems like, shortage of storage, boarding delay and inconvenience to other passengers.
As these issues are generally faced by all the airlines, they may follow Jet Airways soon.
