Now L&T Infotech recalls offer letters to students
First Flipkart and Now L&T Infotech.
It seems the ordeal for fresh graduates is not going to end soon. Media reports suggest that L&T Infotech has recalled offer letters to as many as 1500 students. Students went on a hunger strike as a protest against the company.
"The struggle is much more and it is unexplainable. We took loans to study in that particular college just to get placed. We are now in a position that we cannot answer the banks and they are sending us letter on a daily basis. They (L&T) kept us engaged in doing some work or the other and kept telling us not to panic, we will be giving you the joining date and that increased our hopes," a student said.
Students claim that they were only given one short at getting a job as the rules clearly state you cannot sit for more than one job interview, a report by News 18 stated while quoting a student.
E-commerce major, Flipkart had also deferred joining dates for campus hires from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) citing restructuring of its businesses.
This is not the first instance that this has happened. Many other companies including InMobi, CarDekho and Hopscotch have also reportedly deferred the joining dates for students, the News18 report stated.
The 1,500 offer letters that have been withdrawn by L&T Infotech and the other companies, stand to question the reliability of educational institutions on these companies for placements.
L&T Infotech has not yet responded to Zeebiz when we asked for a statement regarding the denial of jobs to students.
