Maruti sales: No surprises, but Maruti Suzuki sales have jumped in double digits again. The largest carmaker in India today revealed that its total sales in February increased as much as 15 per cent to 1,49,824 units. In the corresponding period last yearit had logged sales of 1,30,280 units. Maruti Suzuki domestic sales came in at 1,37,900 units, which is a rise of 14.2 per cent from 1,20,735 units in February 2017. Maruti revealed that sales of mini segment vehicles, that includes Alto and WagonR, witnessed an increase of 2.1 per cent rise to 33,789 units in February 2018 from 33,079 units in February 2017.

Maruti Suzuki also indicated that compact segment sales, which comprises Swift, Estilo, Dzire and Baleno jumped by a whopping 38.7 per cent to 65,213 units last month as against 47,002 units in the sme month in 2017.

At the larger end of the scale, Maruti Suzuki mid-sized segment sales, it comprises sedan Ciaz, declined by 16.8 per cent to 4,897 units during the month.

On the other hand, utility vehicles sales, including of Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross and compact SUV Vitara Brezza increased by 13.8 per cent to 20,324 units in February, from 17,863 units in the same month of 2017.

Notably, Omni and Eeco vans sales declined by 12.5 per cent to 12,425 units last month vs 14,195 units last year in same month.

Significantly, Maruti Suzuki exports in the month jumped 24.9 per cent to 11,924 units as compared with 9,545 in same month of 2017.
