Maruti Suzuki price hike: Maruti Suzuki India — the country's largest carmaker — announced an increase in the prices across its models, effective April 1. 

Maruti Suzuki — whose popular cars include Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki Baleno Swift, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Maruti Suzuki Spresso and Maruti Suzuki Alto — said an estimated weighted average of increase stood at around 0.8 per cent across models. 

Maruti Suzuki said the increase is calculated using the ex-showroom prices of its models in New Delhi.

Maruti Suzuki domestic sales shrink marginally, exports rise

In a separate development, Maruti Suzuki reported total domestic sales of 1,36,787 passenger vehicles (PVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in March 2023, down 0.6 per cent on a year-on-year basis, according to a company statement. Out of those, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,32,763 passenger vehicles in the domestic market last month, down 0.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. 

Maruti Suzuki's exports, however, grew 13.6 per cent on a year-on-year basis to 30,119 vehicles last month, according to the statement.

Maruti Suzuki's total monthly sales — comprising domestic sales and exports — reduced 0.2 per cent on year to 1,70,071 vehicles, exceeding analysts' expectations. 

According to Zee Business research, Maruti Suzuki was estimated to report total domestic sales and exports of 1,57,500 vehicles.
