Maruti Suzuki domestic passenger vehicle sales drop 8% in August; catch key takeaways here
Maruti Suzuki India registered total sales-comprising sales in the domestic as well as foreign markets-of to 1,81,782 vehicles in August 2024, down 3.9 per cent compared with the year-ago period.
Maruti Suzuki India—the country's largest carmaker—on Sunday reported total sales of 1,43,075 passenger vehicles (PVs) in the domestic market last month, marking a decline of 8.4 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Its total sales—comprising sales in the domestic as well as foreign markets—declined about 3.9 per cent on a year-on-year basis, to 1,81,782 units, according to a regulatory filing.
In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki's total sales—comprising passenger and light commercial vehicles—stood at 1,45,570 units last month as against 1,58,678 units a year ago, according to the filing.
Sales in the mini segment—comprising its Alto and S-Presso models—decreased 12.8 per cent to 10,648 whereas sales in the compact segment—comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR—declined 19.9 per cent to 58,051 units in August, according to the filing.
Maruti Suzuki India registered sales of 707 units in its mid-size segment—comprising its Ciaz model—as against 849 units a year ago.
In the utility vehicles (UVs) segment, Maruti Suzuki India clocked an increase of 6.7 per cent to 62,684 units sold. The segment comprises its Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6 models.
The auto major sold 2,495 light commercial vehicles (LCVs) last month, as against 2,564 units in August 2023.
Maruti Suzuki India's total exports stood at 26,003 units during the month, marking an increase of 5.6 per cent over the year-ago period.
