Mahindras auto, tractor sales robust in August

Leading SUV manufacturer - Mahindra & Mahindra recorded a 14% rise in its August sales on the back of positive monsoon and new product launches.
The carmaker sold 40,591 units compared to 35,634 units in the same month of the previous year.
Total domestic sales was at 36,944 units, growth of 15% from 32,122 units in August 2015. While exports increased by 4% to 3647 units from 3512 units a year ago same month.
During this month, the passenger vehicles and utility vehicles both witnessed 29% growth by selling 18,246 units and 17,119 units respectively.
Not only this, Mahindra's tractor segment have too registered positive sales volume in August 2016, led by Khariff sowing.
Mahindra's Tractor total sales in this month stood at 13543 units, up by 16% versus 11699 units in August 2016.
Rajesh Jejurikar, President - Farm Equipment and Two-wheeler division of M&M said, "The upcoming festive season will further boost the demand of tractor segment in the coming months."
Under the tractor data, total domestic sales rose by 15% to 12327 units, whereas export was at 1216 units, up by 28%.

The Supreme Court has banned diesel vehicle in December last year and lifted the ban on August 12 with a condition that manufacturers/dealers will have to collect 1 percent cess on ex-showroom price.
