Jet Airways says no to power banks on flights
The airline company said that it has been mandated by the DGCA.
While Samsung had recalled all of its Noe 7 devices due to issues with the battery, the fear of batteries and power banks exploding is a fear which airlines cannot shake off.
Jet Airways now has mandated that the carrying of power banks from any manufacturer will not be allowed by people in their check-in baggage. It said that the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has now mandated this rule.
“In the interest of safety and as mandated by the DGCA, Jet Airways will not permit carriage of power banks from any manufacturer to be carried in guests’ check in baggage on board all its flights. However, guests may carry these charging devices in their cabin bags,” it said in its statement.
Earlier, with the Samsung Note 7 issue the DGCA had banned passengers from carrying it on-board flights.
