Consumers expected Bharti Airtel to come out with a cutting-edge plan in response to Reliance Jio's Double Dhamaka offer. However, the telecom firm instead revised its entry level Rs 99 prepaid plan. RJio last week declared an open tariff war against Airtel by revising it’s entire prepaid recharge packs. RJio made it clear that its recharge pack for prepaid customers are large and cheap in data. When RJio announced its new revised prepaid packs, state-owned BSNL was first one to react with 4GB data at just Rs 149 for 28 days. Everybody was expecting Airtel to soon react on RJio’s plan with their recharge packs, however the company only decided to revise one pack for the customers. But if we look closely, Rs 99 recharge pack of Airtel might not be that of worth in terms of data pack, because the company has another recharge pack which is lower in rate and higher in data.
Under Rs 99 plan, Airtel will offer 2GB data, unlimited voice call and 100 SMSes in one day. The Airtel plan comes with a validity of 28 days, while RJio's Rs 98 offer extended unlimited calling, 2GB 4GB data along with 300 SMSes for 28 days.
In one aspect Airtel beats Jio as it offers 100 SMSes every day while the latter gives 300 SMSes for 28 days. Rest of the plans are same on both telecom platforms.
But if you are a prepaid customer and visit Airtel website for recharge you may find a pack called Rs 98.
This Rs 98 pack of Airtel gives 3GB data in 3G/4G network for 28 days. However, there are no unlimited calling options mentioned in this data pack. Also it needs to be noted that, this plan might be available to only select circles.
