Interpol denies India's request; no red-corner notice against Vijay Mallya
Earlier this year, Britain had refused to deport Mallya.
India's efforst to bring back beleagured liquor-baron and chief of now defunct Kingfisher Airlines got a big jolt after media reports suggested that the Interpol has rejected Enforcement Directorate's request to issue a red corner notice against him.
This isn't the first time India has failed to garner support from external agencies to bring back Vijay Mallya.
Earlier this year, Britain had refused to deport Mallya.
India has already cancelled his diplomatic passport and asked the UK to deport him.
The UK, however, said that its rules allow a person to stay in the country if they have valid visa even if their home country has cancelled their passport.
Vijay Mallya has several cases in India related to his airline's Rs 9000-crore loans that remain unpaid.
Mallya, who was the member of Rajya Sabha, has also resigned from his seat.
