Indigo strikes its first GDS deal with Travelport
This would be Indigo's first deal with a global GDS, and the choice of Travelport as its distribution partner displays the value the airline sees in Travelport's travel commerce platform.
In a move to reach travellers internationally, Indigo – India's leading domestic airline, announced its strategic partnership with Travelport to distribute all its fares and ancilliary products to new customers worldwide.
This would be Indigo's first deal with a global GDS, and the choice of Travelport as its distribution partner displays the value the airline sees in Travelport's travel commerce platform.
Aditya Ghosh, President & Whole Time Director of Indigo said,This arrangement with Transport will allow us to reach new customers, both at home and overseas, in a cost effective manner without incurring the traditional costs associated with participating in global distribution platforms using old style industry mechanisms and instead, enabling our real time connectivity to the GDS platform via an XML API Link.
Agreement with Travelport, will enable Indigo to provide its content via API connection, rather than more traditional fare filing methods often favoured by network carriers, and still have their fares and ancillaries dipplayes, compared and booked in exactly the same way.
Additionally, Indigo will also be open to Travelport's leading merchandising capabilities to bring Indigo's brand proposition to life for travellers arriving into India and at the same time seeking domestic flights within the country.
It will support Indigo in enhance its network reach outside India, as the company plans to expand its network route into destinations in the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East and South East Asia.
Shares of InterGlobe Aviation (Indigo) closed at Rs 868.05, down by 0.27%.
