IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh set to quit, airline says will name new CEO

InterGlobe Aviation, the company that operates IndiGo, the top airliner in the country, revealed today that President Aditya Ghosh will be quitting effective July 31, 2018. Aditya Ghosh has spent 10 years with IndiGo. According to reports, the board of the airliner will meet soon to name a successor. Gregory Taylor, an airline sector veteran, is the frontrunner for the post of president and chief executive officer (CEO). Notably, Taylor's name has cropped up as he had worked previously with IndiGo. Among the other airlines he has worked with are United Airlines and US Airways. He is expected to join IndiGo initially as a senior adviser, reporting to the airline's co-founder Rahul Bhatia, Reuters reported.

Ghosh said it has been a most satisfying task building IndiGo. "It is now time for me to step off the treadmill and sometime in the near future embark on my next adventure. I wish all my colleagues at IndiGo the very best as they move on to the next phase of growth," he said. Welcoming Taylor, Bhatia said his enormous and varied experience and understanding of the complexities of the airline industry would be invaluable to the airline's future plans. "At the same time, we thank Aditya (Ghosh) for all his hard work and contributions and for the successes that the company has enjoyed," he added.

IndiGo, which has a fleet of 160 aircraft, is the country's largest airline with a market share of nearly 40 per cent. It operates around 1,000 flights daily.
