ICICI Bank has launched its API Banking portal consisting maximum number of virtual APIs (application programming interfaces) put together by any Indian bank, the company said in a statement. The API interface  will enable partner companies to co- create innovative customer solutions in a frictionless manner and in a fraction of time usually taken for such integration, the release said. This would "significantly" increase their productivity, the release said.

APIs are a set of instructions, which enable third party applications to communicate with the Bank’s various technology applications and collaborate to bring in new customer propositions.

The ICICI Bank API Banking portal consists of 250 APIs enables developers of prospective partner companies across the globe to sign up on it, create an application, select the application, test it out and get the sample code. With this, businesses, fintechs, corporates and e-commerce start-ups can easily partner with the bank and co- create innovative customer solutions in a frictionless manner, all from the convenience of a single portal.  Typically, an API integration would take a few months.

It is envisioned to be the gateway for several prospective partner companies to tie-up with the Bank in a quick and frictionless manner," Anup Bagchi, Executive Director, ICICI Bank said .

"The portal offers the largest array of instant APIs by any bank in one single place. We believe that the ‘ICICI Bank API Banking Portal’, will help foster rapid innovation and co-creation with partner," Bagchi added.

The portal offers a detailed step-by-step workflow to bring in ease and quick understanding of API working and scenarios for developers, the release said.

You can start accesssing the ICICI Bank API Banking Portal by visiting www.developer.icicibank.com and signing-up. Then select the ‘Required Category’ (for example “Business Banking”) category for the payment API. Review the documentation and test your application integration to virtual APIs. Request for upgrade to the UAT environment on portal and sign an NDA with the Bank. Request for upgrade to the live environment on portal.
