Hyundai i20 model sales cross 10-lakh units mark

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Thursday said its premium compact hatchback i20 has crossed sales milestone of 10 lakh units in the domestic and global markets. 

The car manufacturer had introduced i20 hatchback model in 2008. 

“Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Hyundai i20’s staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers sporty design, functionality and class-leading performance," Hyundai Motor India managing director and chief executive officer Y K Koo said in a statement. 

We are extremely delighted that i20 models have achieved this milestone of 1 million (10 lakh) global sales and met the aspirations of Indian and global customers, he added. 

Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter in India. The auto company under the i20 badge also sells two other models- Elite i20 and i20 Active.

The company said it has sold 757,035 units of i20,  222,044 units of Elite i20 and 38,031 units of i20 Active in the domestic and global markets. In total ,the auto manufacturer sold around 1,017,110 units of models under i20 badge.
