Hindustan Petroleum Corporation on Monday reported nearly 53% rise in the standalone net profit for the third quarter (Q3) of the fiscal year 2016-17 (FY17) ended on December 31 last year.

"Its standalone net profit for the October to December quarter of FY17 jumped by 53.73% to Rs 1,590.31 crore as against Rs 1,041.25 crore in the October to December quarter of FY16," Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) said in a filing to the BSE.  

The company's total income from operations during the period under review rose by 14.94% to Rs 55,540.70 crore as compared to Rs 48,322.86 crore in the year-ago period.

Its total expenses during the quarter increased by 14.09% to Rs 53,370.95 crore as against Rs 46,778.39 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal.

On Monday, the stock of HPCL closed up 1.15% or Rs 6.60 at Rs 578.15 on the BSE.
