The Mom Store has chartered an accelerated journey in capturing the maternity and infant wear market in just a matter of 2.5 years. Started by Surbhi Bhatia in early 2019, who found it cumbersome to explore good options for maternity-wear outfits during her own pregnancy, The Mom Store has reimagined the maternity apparel in India bringing much needed style to this segment and allowing pregnant and nursing moms to have a range of options including tops, denims, ethnic, gowns, dresses, intimate apparel; basically enjoying their motherhood journey in style! The Mom Store is probably the only brand which offers clothing for Premies and has a large range of neutral, white based 100% cotton clothing for infants and newborns, a step away from stereotyped pink and blue infant clothing, another pet peeve Surbhi had when her daughter was born in 2017. “I studied the market for a while during my pregnancy, and after testing the waters for a while I decided to take the plunge upon ourselves to start a store that is a one-stop-solution for the maternity-wear and infant clothing needs and hence The Mom Store was started in 2019”, says Surbhi. “In less than 2 years, my ideas resonated with thousands of mommies across India, strengthening the brand concept and spirit and catapulting us as one of the leading maternity and kids brands in India today.” Surbhi has also participated in Freedom to Feed, a parenting initiative by actress Neha Dhupia, where Neha and Surbhi spoke about Breastfeeding awareness, breastfeeding in public and protecting the idea of breastfeeding which is the theme for this year’s Breastfeeding Week. The Mom Store also carried out a similar initiative with Breastfeeding Support for Indian Mothers, a Facebook group that has more than 1.25 lac women followers who actively share their breastfeeding journey.
Surbhi further reiterates, “We have thoughtfully addressed the needs of a pregnant, breastfeeding and pumping mother, who searches for accessibility and comfort while nursing her baby. Our maternity collection exudes style while keeping in mind all of the requisite elements like side-zippers, button downs and comfortable, breezy fabrics, to make nursing easier even in the public space. We are addressing the new age millennial mom who is in charge of her choices when it comes to her pregnancy, motherhood and baby, and keep her at the focal point while designing maternity and kids apparel for the brand.” Today’s millennial women-mothers are conscious of their choices for themselves and their babies and research their way through motherhood- be it health, lifestyle or parenting techniques. This, coupled with a strong digital and social presence with a community of more than 1,56,000 women followers on Instagram, The Mom Store has managed to become a household name for expectant and new mothers who rely on it for its superior quality, customer service and timely deliveries. The brand is also wardrobe-partner for the sixth season of Youtube series Firsts by Dice Media, According to Chahat Bawa, the stylist for the series by Dice Media," Working with The Mom Store has been a fulfilling experience. The entire range was comfortable, stylish and everyone in the crew loved it! We picked up many pieces from their range for the shoot"
The Mom Store is definitely a brand to watch out for in this growing category, and it has already managed to send waves despite being a bootstrapped, marquee brand. The Mom Store has been recognized for Digital Awards for Ecommerce by SheThePeople powered by Google and also received the ET Industry leaders award for Holistic Mother and Baby Brand in India.
