Hero MotoCorp rolls out VIDA electric scooter charging network in these cities

Hero MotoCorp has begun operations at its public charging infrastructure for its VIDA brand scooters in three cities: New Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur. The New Delhi-based auto major has set up nearly 300 charging points at 50 locations spread across the three cities for public use.
Hero MotoCorp shares were flat near Rs 2,500 apiece on BSE in afternoon deals having gyrated in a range of almost Rs 30 aroudn the flatline earlier in the day, between Rs 2,482 and Rs 2512.
The initiation of operations comes after the auto maker started delivering its VIDA V1 electric scooter in the three cities.
How fast are Hero VIDA charging stations?
The fast charging network enables VIDA scooter riders to charge the battery of the electric two wheeler at 1.2 kilometres per minute, according to a statement by Hero MotoCorp released post-market hours on Wednesday.
Each charging station will have DC and AC charging sockets, Hero MotoCorp said.

Hero MotoCorp also said it is planning to expand its VIVA ecosystem to other cities. It aims to expand its electric two-wheeler range in the next 18-24 months.
"With the launch in the three cities, where the customers are really taking up to the product and the overall sales and pre-sales experience, we are really ready to now multiply into many cities going into 2023-24 to establish ourselves wider into the market," Swadesh Srivastava, Head-Emerging Mobility Business Unit (EMBU) at Hero MotoCorp, said on a call with analysts.
Hero MotoCorp had launched the VIDA V1 e-scooter in two variants, Pro and Plus, in October 2022.
"We are already going to launch a few more cities within this quarter and then a much wider nationwide expansion next year (fiscal) will happen with this product (VIDA V1)," he added.

Hero MotoCorp shares have lost 10 per cent of their value in the past one month, a period in which the Nifty50 benchmark has dropped about 3.5 per cent.
