Here are 4 ways to get cash without standing in ATM, bank queues
With the existing cash crunch after demonetisation blues hit Indian markets, retailers and e-commerce platforms found a way around the mess.
Although digital transactions have become the rule of thumb with the currency ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, e-commerce industries like Snapdeal that announced on Thursday and Grofers started providing customers the option of delivering cash to customer door steps.
1. Snapdeal: The latest option of ‘Cash@Home’ facility announced by Snapdeal it made available the option of receiving Rs 2000 notes alongside your order or as a special order for cash.
The company said customers would need to install the Snapdeal app, and it uses customer’s location data to check if there is cash available in your area. If cash is available the customer would get a push notification and an SMS notification, taking them to the order page.
Customers would have to pay Re 1 as convenience fee via FreeCharge or using debit cards and the next day of the order Snapdeal’s executive would arrive at the customer’s house with a Point of Sale (POS) machine.
The company said currently only Rs 2,000 per day would be available on booking and the service is currently live in parts of Gurugram and Bengaluru, and only works through the app.
2. Big Bazaar: Future Retail on November 22 announced its mini-ATM facility dispensing Rs 2000 notes at its outlets.
Customers of Big Bazaar that have debit cards would be able to withdraw the cash at any of their 258 outlets, without standing in long queues at banks.
3. Inox: Multiplex chain, Inox on November 26 partnered with State Bank of India (SBI) to ease the process of getting cash.
At Inox multiplexes, customers could go in with their debit cards just to withdraw cash up to Rs 2000 per day.
4. Grofers: The food delivery company that partnered with Yes Bank on December 13 to start a cash delivery service to customer’s homes.
The company said home delivery of cash would be available in three cities Mumbai, Gurgaon and Bengaluru.
While ordering for food, customers could avail the ‘home cash delivery’ option and by swiping their cards in the POS machine carried by Grofers executives customers could avail ‘seamless delivery of cash,’ the company said.
