Global Health Q1 Results: Company reports Rs 102 crore profit

Global Health, the operator of Medanta hospitals, has announced a significant increase of nearly 78 percent in its net profit to Rs 102 crore during the June quarter. This surge can be attributed to improved margins and revenue generation. The company's total income for the first quarter of the current fiscal year witnessed a rise of 26.8 percent, amounting to Rs 794.5 crore. Additionally, operating margins saw a boost, reaching 25.1 percent compared to the previous year's 22.6 percent. The multi-speciality tertiary care hospital chain, which serves the northern and eastern regions, revealed these figures in an official statement.
Global Health's average occupied bed days also experienced growth by 16.2 percent, resulting in a 58.1 percent occupancy rate in the first quarter, driven by increased bed capacity. In-patient volume observed a notable increase of 19.4 percent, while out-patient volume witnessed a rise of 17.5 percent.
The company noted a rise in revenue share from its developing hospitals in Lucknow and Patna, which increased from 23.4 percent to 28.9 percent, totaling Rs 229.7 crore. Revenue generated from international patients saw a substantial boost of 45 percent, reaching Rs 47.7 crore, attributed to both increased patient volume and improved revenue realization.
Global Health's in-house out-patient pharmacy business also demonstrated robust growth, achieving a 43 percent increase, with revenues amounting to Rs 26.6 crore for the June quarter.
Pankaj Sahni, the Chief Executive Officer and Director of the group, highlighted that the company recently unveiled a partnership with prominent developer DLF. This collaboration aims to establish a new 400-bed multi-super specialty hospital in south Delhi. Once operational, this facility will be interconnected with the company's existing Gurgaon, Delhi, and Noida facilities.
Global Health currently operates a network of five hospitals located in Gurugram, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Patna, collectively offering a capacity of 2,725 beds.
