Exclusive: There will be no issue with supply of diesel, petrol or LPG, HPCL CMD says

The consumption of LPG has incresed since the announcement of the 21-day nationwide lockdown, S.K. Surana Chairman and Managing Director at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) told Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi in an exclusive interview.
Surana, howvever, said that the lockdown has affected consumption of petroleum products like diesel and petrol and it was only natural since the movement of vehicles have been restricted because of the ongoing lockdown.

Assuring the consumers, Surana said that all the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and their dealerships have been carrying on their operations in a proper way so that the consumers do not suffer, despite the lockdown in place.
There is an adequate supply of diesel, petrol and LPG gas even with limited resources, he added.
The MD further said that there was some panic buying among the LPG users as people stocked 1-2 cylinder, fearing paucity in supply. The company was still able to maintain the supply, he added.
On being asked if the company has cut is refining operations, Surana said that HPCL has regulated refining at its Mumbai refinery by 20 per cent while its Vizag refinery is operating at pre-lockdown levels. he said that the regaulations are made as per the demands in the markets.

The low prices of crude oil are good for consumers, company and the country as well he said. He said that the advantage of low crude prices will only be helpful for the company if demand picks up, the MD said. He said that he expects the demand to come back after the lockdown period ends.
