The entire world is battling the challenges posed by coronavirus-caused Covid-19 pandemic. The disease continues to shake up the economies and thereby throwing normal life out of gear. India too is facing many difficulties in these trying times of pandemic. During this lockdown period, one of the most important items for our daily lives was milk, and Amul has played a big role in maintaining its regular supply. So, how did Amul manage to fulfil the requirement of consumers even during the lockdown? Managing Director of Amul, RS Sodhi reveals all details in this Zee Business exclusive interview.
Talking to Zee Business, Amul's MD RS Sodhi said, "Amul is selling milk in over 1000 cities of India. Amul has delivered over 40 lakh litres of milk per day during the lockdown period."
"Interestingly, Amul delivered 15% more milk during the lockdown period as compared to what we deliver normally. We collected milk from 36 lakh farmers daily, that too twice a day. Our supply chain was not disrupted even for 1 min during this lockdown period," RS Sodhi revealed while talking to Zee Business.

The nationwide lockdown was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24 for 21 days to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. The lockdown was first extended till May 3 and then again till May 17. It was further extended till May 31 and now has been extended in containment zones till June 30. The home ministry had said that 'Unlock-1' will be initiated in India from June 8 under which restrictions will be relaxed to a great extent, including the opening of shopping malls, restaurants and religious places.
