Diwali dhamaka! GrabOn sees 40% jump in customers using coupon redemptions in festive season
Hyderabad based online couponing company, GrabOn has helped online shoppers save on their Diwali expenses by providing the top offers, deals and discounts on products across segments like food, recharge, travel, electronics and more.
Coupons and Deals market leaders GrabOn which offers coupons, promo codes, deals, gift cards and discounts to its customers has observed a significant growth in the number of coupons and offers used during the Diwali period since 2015. Diwali comes with plethora of sale events from various e-commerce portals, big and small.
Needless to say, the average Indian shopper spends big bucks on gifting during this festive season.

GrabOn is looking to live up to its motto, which is ‘Saving On Everything’ and is offering the latest deals across a wide range of verticals like travel, recharge, fashion, electronics, food, beauty products, clothing, furniture, health, jewelry, movie tickets, automobiles, accessories, and home needs among others.
According to the survey by GrabOn, here are the most preferred streams where customers tend to redeem their coupons the most.
1. Recharge: First preference of the customers to avail the benefit of discounts are Recharge category. Mostly people enjoy it during Diwali season, with the maximum number of coupons being redeemed for this category. However, the percentage usage has dropped from 54% to 21%. Top merchants for Recharge category are Freecharge, Paytm and Mobikwik.

2.Travel and Food segment: It has seen a steady rise in coupon redemption rate, going up by 5% and 7% respectively during Diwali 2017 when compared to Diwali 2015. The data suggests that more people prefer to order in during the festive season while others prefer traveling to their families or take a quieter vacation. the study claims that the usage of food coupons were increase steadily.Top merchants for travel category are Ola Cabs, Uber, Paytm Flights and for Food are Zomato, Swiggy and Foodpanda.
3. Fashion or Electronics: While most guesses would go to this category for having the majority of coupon redemptions, but surprisingly both of the categories combined account for 16% of the total coupon usage during Diwali 2017. It is observed that this category was preferred less in comparison to recharge.
Top merchants for fashion category are Jabong and Myntra. For Electronic category are Amazon, eBay and Snapdeal.
4. Freecharge, Ola, Zomato, BookMyShow, and Myntra were leading the charge and was most preferred with other category merchants following suit. Top merchants for Entertainment and other category are Book My Show, Paytm Movies, Ticket News were customers opt for redemption of coupons.
Maximum number of clicks for coupon Redemption according to the cities were Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, New Delhi and Kolkata.
Surprisingly the survey found that more men used coupons than women in last three years. Further, the survey added the age group of people using the maximum coupons was between 18-34.
