Avenue Supermarts, the parent of D-Mart, reported has a 47.45% jump in standalone net profit at Rs 96.66 crore for the fourth quarter (Q4) ended on March 31, 2017.

The company had reported net profit of Rs 65.55 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Its total income in the quarter under review stood at Rs 3,120.49 crore, up 40.58%, as against Rs 2,219.67 crore in the year-ago quarter, Avenue Supermarts said in a BSE filing.

Avenue Supermarts listed on the stock exchanges with a blockbuster listing in March this year, making Radhakishan Damani -- the founder of the company and a low-profile investor -- a part of India's richest 20 club.

At present, the company operates 131 stores in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, NCR and Chhattisgarh.

On Friday, the stock of Avenue Supermarts closed up 4.63% or Rs 35.80 at Rs 808.65 on the BSE.
