Coal Indias June output rises nearly 43 MT; misses target
Coal India Ltd (CIL), the largest coal miner in the world, had achieved a production of 42.72 million tonnes (MT) in June this year as against a target of 43.31 MT for the month.

The state-owned behemoth, which has eight producing arms, achieved 99% of the monthly target of 43.31 MT in June, PTI reported on Sunday.
For the April-June quarter of fiscal year 2016-17, the company recorded a provisional production of 125.65 MT of coal as against a target of 132.43 MT, it said.
Moreover, the company's coal off-take in June stood at 44.96 MT lower than the targeted level of 47.52 MT for the month. For the April-June quarter, the off-take figure stood at 133.19 MT.
The government has set a production target of 598 MT for CIL for the current fiscal, which accounts for over 80% of the domestic coal output.
In the fiscal year 2015-16, the company's coal output grew at 8.5% to 536 MT, but the miner missed its target of 550 MT.
Coal India's eight dry-fuel producing subsidiaries are ECL in West Bengal, BCCL in Jharkhand, CCL in Jharkhand, SECL in Chattisgarh, WCL in Maharashtra, NCL in Madhya Pradesh, MCL in Odisha, NEC in North East.
The Centre has announced plans to boost Coal India's annual production to meet growing fuel demand, the news agency said.
