The new plan, dubbed as Data Tsunami pack, introduced on the eve of World Telecom Day, is available for customers who can recharge across the country, as well as by visiting third-party recharge portals. The new BSNL tariff plan is a data-only plan and it doesnt offer any voice-calling or SMS benefits, rather, intends to take on RJios Rs 98 prepaid plan and Bharti Airtels Rs 99 plan.
In the ongoing data tariff war among tecos, the state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is not sparing any effort to remain competitive. In a bid to take on telecom players, especially Reliance Jio, it has introduced a prepaid Rs 98 tariff plan, wherein, the PSU firm will offer 39GB of data for 26 days. The new plan, dubbed as 'Data Tsunami' pack, introduced on the eve of World Telecom Day, is available for customers who can recharge across the country, as well as by visiting third-party recharge portals.
According to Telecomtalk, the new BSNL tariff plan is a data-only plan and it doesn’t offer any voice-calling or SMS benefits, rather, intends to take on RJio’s Rs 98 prepaid plan and Bharti Airtel’s Rs 99 plan. The prepaid plan reportedly offers 1.5GB data per day for a period of 26 days. The BSNL's new plan therefore offers one GB data at merely Rs 1.5, the lowest so far by any telecom operator in the country, the report said.
Significantly, for those looking to buy, at this rate, only Reliance Jio is offering data, but that is available with its Rs 149 plan and validity period stands at 28 days, along with unlimited voice calls and SMS benefits. The BSNL plan is likely to lure a lot of customers in the wake of Indian Premier League 2018's peak stage. Last month, BSNL introduced a dedicated IPL plan at Rs 248, offering 3GB data per day for 51 days.
It may be noted that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is also striving to dominate Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) segment through its new plans. It is toying with idea to offer 100 Mbps of speed in select circles, especially in Chennai. It has already made some changes to its Rs 4,999 FTTH plan, in Chennai circle, bumping up the FUP to 1500GB at 100Mbps.
