BSNL extends promotional offer to take on Jio, Airtel; check STV Rs 241 plan
When the promotional offer expires on December 5, the BSNL will reportedly decide whether to extend it for another 90 days or to restrict the plan with old benefits. The plan is effective only in Kerala circle, but reports say that it may be revised in other circles also in the next few days.
Striving hard to compete against competitors like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, public setor telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recently revised its STV plan of Rs 241, increasing the benefits. The promotional offer comes with data only facility unlike other combo plans present in the market. The revised BSNL offer provides neither calling nor SMS benefits, said TelecomTalk report, adding that the STV now extends 75GB 2G/3G data to BSNL subscribers for 30 days validity, rather than usual 28 days validity of the BSNL offerings.
Earlier, this plan offered 7GB data to subscribers for the entire validity period, but the new plan would provide 75GB data for 30 days, thereby offering 2.5GB data per day. Since it is data STV, the Rs 241 plan will only offer 2G or 3G data to the subscribers. The offer live since September 10 will reportedly be valid until December 5, 2018.

The state-owned telco's other offerings include Data STV of Rs 198 plan that will give 2GB data per day for a period of 28 days. Earlier, it offered 2.5GB data per day for 24 days, but it has reportedly been revised to give 2GB data every day for 28 days. Another revised entry-level STV 27 plan is now extending better data benefits. With Rs 27 data-only plan in Kerala, the telco offers 1.5GB of 2G/3G data for a period of three days. The plan attracts the users who look for a data-only plan for a limited period.
