BSNL cuts call rates further; plans Wifi upgrade
To strengthen its data services, BSNL has awarded Larsen & Toubro with Rs 1000 crore contract for setting up more than 35,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots by March 2018.
State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has come up with plans to improve its network and provide cheaper call and internet for its customers.
To strengthen its data services, BSNL has awarded Larsen & Toubro with Rs 1000 crore contract for setting up more than 35,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots by March 2018.
BSNL has also brought in changes to its local calls through landline and charge per metered called units (MCU).
Duration (pulse) of each local call from BSNL landline has been revised to two minutes from previous three minutes.
Recently the company said it has cut the monthly rental for unlimited calling from landline to any network by almost half.
BSNL has fixed the monthly charges calling from BSNL landline to any networks on Sundays and night hours at Rs 49 from Rs 99 which would be available for six months.
On February 6, BSNL said that it will offer 1 GB data at Rs 36. In this offer, customers will get 8 GB for Rs 291 plan with a validity of 28 days as against 2 GB provided earlier.
