Bharti Airtel announced on Saturday that it has completed the acquisition of Econet Wireless' entire 4.2% shareholding in Airtel Nigeria.

Through the latest acquisition, Airtel's overall shareholding in Airtel Nigeria has risen to 83.25%.

“Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV through its wholly-owned subsidiary 'Airtel', has completed the acquisition of Econet Wireless Limited’s entire 4.2% shareholding in Airtel Nigeria. As a result, Airtel’s overall holding in Airtel Nigeria has increased to 83.25%,” Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV said in a press release on Saturday.

Bharti Airtel is an Indian global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa and is headquartered in New Delhi.
