Best companies to work for in India: The job scenario, as well as preferences of job seekers, have changed these days as compared to what it was a decade back. Over the decade, the preferences of jobseekers have witnessed a sea change. Now, youth not only work for a living, but they are driven by ambitions, personal likings and dislikings. In a recent report released by Linkedin, most of the companies on top where Indian jobseekers want to work are related to the internet. Flipkart, Amazon India, OYO Hospitality, One97 Communications-owned Paytm and Paytm Money, Swiggy, Zomato, and Uber are among the preferred companies. On the LinkedIn Talent Insights released recently, many start-ups have found a place along with behemoths like TCS, Amazon, Alphabet in the top ten list. Flipkart, OYO, Paytm, and Swiggy are companies that are homegrown and not very old. However, Flipkart was last year taken over by the world's largest retailer - Walmart.

Flipkart was at the top spot in terms of jobseekers' preference. Engineering, education, product management are the functions in which most people have been hired.  Linkedin said, several “Flipsters” became millionaires after India’s largest e-commerce company got acquired for $16 billion. But even contractors and casual workers have a reason to rejoice: Flipkart outscores other gig-economy platforms on the fairness of working conditions and wages. Bengaluru, New Delhi, and Mumbai were the top locations.

Amazon India was at the second spot with most new hires in engineering, operations, and support. Amazon had more than 1,950 job postings in India as on April 2, the highest in Asia-Pacific, despite a recent tightening of e-commerce norms. The company is spreading its wings in the offline world by bagging retail chains and setting up kiosks in malls. Machine learning was among the fastest growing skills.

OYO was at the third spot in the list.  Job functions with the newest hires include operations, business development, and sales. OYO, which has 450,000 exclusive rooms globally, aims to overtake Marriott as the world’s largest hotel chain by 2023. Flush with money from its $1 billion fund-raise, the company is venturing into food-tech, event management and co-working by acquiring startups.

One97 Communications, the parent of Paytm and Paytm Money, was at the fourth spot on the chart. Job functions with the newest hires: Engineering, Sales, Information Technology. Paytm has done away with the concept of work appointments. Employees are free to have impromptu meetings and occupy available rooms without blocking calendars.

Swiggy, Zomato, TCS, Alphabet, RIL, and Uber were the other companies on the list. The data were taken from the companies Linkedin profiles while compiling the report, Linkedin said.
