Two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto shares declined 2% to Rs 2,581 in early trade session on BSE Sensex on Monday, after the company posted decline in sales in December that dropped 22%.

The company data showed that it sold 2,25,529 two-wheeler units as against 2,89,003 units in the same month last year.

Motorcycle sales, which contributed 90% of total sales, during the month fell by 18% to 2,03,312 units as against 2,47,782 units in December last year, the company said in a BSE filing.

Exports of the company were down 27% to 1,05,,804 units from 1,45,477 units in the previous year.

The company reported total sales from April to December of FY 17 declined by 5% to 2,878,323 units as compared to 3,021,123 units in the same period last fiscal.

At 0958 hours shares of the company were trading down 1.66% to Rs 2,590.15 per share.
