Ashneer Grover launches fantasy sports app CrickPe, calls it biggest revolution in cricket since IPL
CrickPe is a product of Third Unicorn and promises cash rewards to actual playing cricketers, cricketing bodies, and real team owners
Ashneer Grover launches fantasy sports app CrickPe ahead of IPL 2023: Indian Premier League 2023 is just around the corner, and there couldn't have been a better time to launch a fantasy cricket app.
BharatPe and Third Unicorn co-founder Ashneer Grover sensed this opportunity well, and on Thursday launched a cricket fantasy app called CrickPe.
He launched the app through his Twitter handle, terming it the "Biggest revolution in Cricket since IPL".
He further wrote on his Twitter account, "Only fantasy game paying cricketers for performance. Where you win, cricketer wins, cricket wins."
The former 'Shark Tank India' judge also provided CrickPe app download links to Google Play Store and Apple Store.
On Google Store, CrickPe describes itself as an app where even actual playing cricketers and cricket bodies also win cash awards.
"CrickPe is India’s most unique and powerful fantasy cricket gaming app, where ‘Cricket Wins’ everyday! It is the only fantasy cricket app in the world where with every match, the actual playing cricketers, cricketing bodies and real team owners win cash rewards, along with the fantasy game winners."
CrickPe, a Third Unicorn product, will levy a 10 per cent platform fee of the total funds received for any public or private contest. On the CrickPe app, players above 18 years can create a virtual team of cricketers and enter paid contests to earn cash prizes.
CrickPe has been launched eight days before the IPL 2023 kick-off, which is scheduled to begin at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 31.
The app has been launched at a time when apps like Dream 11, Mobile Premier League, My11Circle and Games24X7 are already in the market.
It will be a real test of Grover's business acumen as he has to establish his app as a key player among giants who have already captured substantial chunks of the market.
He, however, has the cushion India's sizeable user base of over 13 crore — which makes it the world's biggest fantasy sports market.
As per a report by the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS) in collaboration with Deloitte, India's fantasy sports market is likely to grow from Rs 34,600 crore in FY21 to an estimated Rs 1,65,000 crore by FY25, registering a CAGR of 38 per cent.
