Air India is a problem that almost no one is willing to try and fix. At least, not on terms the government has set. Bet that as it may, now, cabin crew of the national carrier will wear a new uniform — a mix of traditional and western attire. Business class passengers of the airline will be provided with better upholstery, better nightwear, woolen blankets and travel kits. Passengers of the upgraded premium class will get a feel of the new ambience.

In the pictures the airline posted on its Twitter account, cabin crew wore sarees in fuchsia and blue shades. Aviation minister Suresh Prabhu said in a Twitter post, "Launched 'Maharaja Direct', a whole new experience for Air India's business and first-class passengers on long-haul international flights with revamped products and services."

Air India has revamped its premium-class services to woo customers on international  routes and increase revenue. The passengers will also be served delicious food and region-specific beverages too. These changes can increase revenue on international routes from Rs 4 crore to Rs 6 crore per day.

The loss-making Air India at present can only fill 60 percent of the business and first class seats on its flights to North America and Europe.  The airline expects load factor to increase to 80 percent of the seat capacity.
