Auto Sales September 2021 Data: Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Bajaj Auto report decline; Tata Motors, Skoda, Nissan, MG Motors grow

Auto sales in September 2021: Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra’s farm equipment sector, Escorts, Bajaj Auto reported sales drop while carmakers like Tata Motors, MG Motor India, Toyota Kirloskar, Skoda Auto, Nissan, TVS Motor, Ashok Leyland registered sales growth.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti’s total domestic sales, including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCV) stood at 66,415 units, compared to 150,040 units in the corresponding month last year. The total domestic passenger vehicles sold in September stood at 68815 units, against 152,608 units in the year-ago period.

Hyundai Motor India

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Friday reported 23.6 per cent decline in total sales at 45,791 units in September. The company had sold 59,913 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement. Domestic sales were down 34.2 per cent to 33,087 units as against 50,313 units in September 2020, the company added.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector

Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced its tractor sales numbers for September 2021. Domestic sales in September 2021 were at 39,053 units, as against 42,361 units during September 2020. It recorded a decline of 8 per cent. Total tractor sales, including domestic and exports, during September 2021 were at 40,331 units, a dip of 7 per cent,  against 43,386 units for the same period last year.

Farm machinery and construction equipment major Escorts on Friday reported a 25.6 per cent decline in total tractor sales at 8,816 units in September. The company had sold a total of 11,851 units in the same month last year, Escorts said in a regulatory filing. Domestic tractor sales last month stood at 7,975 units as against 11,453 units in September 2020, down 30.4 per cent, it added.

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto on Friday reported a 16 per cent decline in total domestic sales at 1,92,348 units in September this year, over the year-ago period. The Pune-based automaker had sold a total of 2,28,731 vehicles in September last year, according to a Bajaj Auto statement. The total sales -- domestic as well as exports -- also dropped 9 per cent to 4,02,021 vehicles in the month under consideration, as compared to 4,41,306 units in September 2020.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors today announced its sales in the domestic and international market, for Q2 FY22, which stood at 1,71,270 vehicles, compared to 1,10,345 units during Q2 FY21. Tata Motors total passenger vehicles sale in September stood at 25,730 units, against 21,199 units in the same month last year. The company registered 21 per cent growth in September 2021. Total Domestic sales was 55,988 units, an increase of 26 per cent, against 44,410 units same months last year.

MG Motor India

MG Motor India on Friday reported 28 per cent increase in retail sales at 3,241 units in September 2021 despite facing production challenges due to semiconductor shortage. The company had retailed 2,537 units in the same month last year, MG Motor India said in a statement. In September, the company's electric SUV ZS EV witnessed higher demand 600-plus bookings, it added.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Friday reported 14 per cent growth in its domestic wholesales to 9,284 units in September as compared with same month last year. The carmaker had dispatched 8,116 vehicles in September 2020.

Skoda Auto India

Skoda Auto India on Friday reported an over two-fold increase in sales at 3,027 units in September 2021, riding on its newly launched SUV Kushaq. The company had sold 1,312 units in the same month last year, Skoda Auto India said in a statement. While Kushaq has fueled the growth for the brand in India, other models such as Superb, Octavia and Rapid have also contributed to the increase in sales volumes, it added.

Nissan India

Automaker Nissan India on Friday said its domestic wholesales rose over three fold to 2,816 units in September, up from 780 units in the same month of last year. The company said its exports last month stood at 5,900 units, compared with 211 units in September 2020. In the first half of the current financial year, the automaker said it has achieved domestic wholesales of 18,591 units with a growth of 459 per cent over last year.

Hinduja group flagship company Ashok Leyland on Friday reported 12 per cent increase in total vehicles sales at 8787 units in September. The company had sold 4529 units in the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment  (M&HCV) in September, registering a growth of 39 per cent. It sold 3268 units in the same segment in the same month last year, Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing.
