Volkswagen and M&M ink supply agreement for electric platform 'INGLO'
Mahindra will become the first external partner to use Volkswagen's unified cell concept, a unique and effective battery strategy.
Volkswagen and M&M: German automotive major Volkswagen Group and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) have announced their first supply agreement for electric vehicle components under their joint vision for electric mobility collaboration.
Under the terms of the agreement, Mahindra will become the first external partner to use Volkswagen's unified cell concept, a unique and effective battery strategy. This deal makes Mahindra the inaugural external partner to adopt Volkswagen's technology. Specifically, Mahindra will integrate Volkswagen's MEB platform components into its bespoke electric platform, INGLO.

INGLO is looking forward to revolutionise the electric vehicle (EV) landscape in India. With plans to introduce five all-electric SUVs commencing December 2024.
Supply Volume and Scope
The supply agreement is slated to span several years, surrounding a total volume of approximately 50 gigawatt-hours (GWh) over its lifetime.
Unified Sales and Component Supply
In addition to the supply agreement, the collaboration entails a unified sales approach for electric parts.
Expanding Collaboration
The Volkswagen-Mahindra partnership, which commenced with a partnering agreement and term sheet in 2022, continues to evolve. Both entities remain open to exploring further avenues for collaboration.
Strategic Implications
"The partnership aims to fortify their e-mobility footprint in the Indian automotive market. This collaboration not only accelerates electrification efforts but also underscores the significance of strategic alliances in shaping the future of transportation," the company said in a statement.
