In a bid to revive the Jawa brand of motorcycles in India that was once popular through the decades of 1970s and 1980s, auto major Mahindra and Mahindra through its subsidiary firm, Classic Legends, has launched two bikes "Jawa" and "Jawa Forty Two". The company has also unveiled a customised variant "Jawa Perak" at the launch event in Mumbai today. Notably, Mahindra and Mahindra chief Anand Mahindra was at the launch of the Jawa bikes in Mumbai. The booking amount for Jawa bikes is Rs 5000.

The new Java bikes have retained their iconic designs and therefore are retro-looking. Jawa and Jawa Forty Two are priced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh respectively. The new bikes are equipped with a 293 cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder, DOHC engine.

The customised variant, Jawa Perak, is powered by a 334cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder, DOHC engine and is priced higher at Rs 1.89 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.
