Tata Motors launched the sub-compact SUV Punch today. The price starts at Rs 5.49 lakh.

Last week, Tata Motors said the sub-compact SUV Punch has received 5-star adult safety rating for adult occupant protection in a crash test from Global NCAP, an internationally renowned vehicle safety accreditation group.

The auto major said the Punch also achieved a 4-star rating for child occupant safety. Five stars indicate the highest score while zero star rating points to the minimum score during the vehicle crash test.

The introductory price of the Pure Manual Transmission stands at Rs 5.49 Lakh. The Adventure Manual Transmission has been priced at Rs 6.39 lakh, the Accomplished Manual Transmission is priced at Rs 7.29 Lakh and the Creative Manual Transmission is priced at Rs 8.49 Lakh.

Tata Motors unveiled the SUV all-new PUNCH on 4th October. The Tata PUNCH is the newest addition to its SUV lineup. The Tata PUNCH will automatically start/stop the engine when stopped at the traffic signal for better fuel efficiency. The booking has opened from today with Rs 21,000.

The Tata PUNCH will be offered in 4 persona -- Pure persona, Adventure persona, Accomplished persona, Creative persona come with iRA. This time, Tata Motors is doing things differently on the variant-wise distribution of the Tata Punch. The safety features of the Tata Punch include ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and corner stability control as well.

The Tata Punch continues to use the same Revotron 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine as the Tata Tiago and Tata Nexon, but Tata Motors says that they have updated the engine with ram-air technology to give the car better fuel efficiency at high speeds.

The technology used in the Tata Punch is that the AMT gearbox will alter the mapping based on the altitude at which the Tata Punch is being driven at. This should give the car good capabilities in high-altitude driving conditions. Tata Motors will launch the Tata Punch SUV with an AMT transmission option right away and not launch it six months after the car launch, something that they have done with all their older model launches.

The Tata Punch will get an option of a 1.2-litre petrol engine that is naturally aspirated and makes the Tata Punch go from 0-60 km/h in 6.5 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 16.5 seconds. The Tata Punch comes with 366-litre boot space. The doors of the Tata Punch will open fully, to 90-degrees for easy entry and exit for passengers.

After a grand unveiling at the Auto Expo 2020 as the HBX Concept, the company has christened this highly anticipated SUV as ‘PUNCH’. Leading up to its national launch this festive season, Tata Motors had officially teased the PUNCH on 23rd August, its first SUV built on ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture), developed under Impact 2.0 design language, Tata Motors has mentioned.
