Renault announced on February 15 that its sub-four metre compact SUV Kiger had been rated four stars for adult occupant safety by Global NCAP, the world’s foremost car safety organization.
The highest score on a vehicle crash test is five stars, while the lowest score is zero stars.
“Safety is of paramount importance for Renault, and all our products meet and exceed the requisite safety standards set by Indian regulatory authorities. Kiger combines the best Renault has to offer: our expertise in innovative cars and in-depth knowledge of customer needs,” Renault India Operations Country CEO and Managing Director Venkatram Mamillapalle said in a statement as per PTI.
Global NCAP’s four-star rating affirms the commitment of the company to develop products that are both technologically advanced and stylish, he said.
“Our GNCAP achievements on both Kiger and Triber are a testament to our strong commitment towards offering products that can deliver the highest global standards of safety, accessible to Indian customers,” Mamillapalle stated in a PTI report.
Kiger is now being exported to Nepal and South Africa by Renault India after a successful global launch in early 2021 in India.
Global NCAP tested Kiger's most basic safety configuration, including two frontal airbags and ABS.
Last year, the company’s Triber had received a four-star adult safety rating.
