Proud moment for Mahindra! Bags safest MPV tag in India with this vehicle
The five-door Marazzo MPV that was tested at a speed of 64 kmph during crash test gets dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD and ISOFIX mounts as standard across all the variants. Mahindra's new Marazzo MPV scored 12.85 out of 17 in adult safety and 22.22 out of 49 in child occupancy (two stars). The test results are stated to be valid for all Marazzos made after November 16, 2018.
Auto major Mahindra recently launched Marazzo MPV, which has now been awarded a four-star safety rating for adult occupancy by Global NCAP's latest round of crash tests for made-in-India and sold-in-India cars. It has also become the 2nd highest car by overall score amongst all 32 India-made models tested by Global NCAP so far.
Tata Nexon, however, has become the first made in India, sold in India car to achieve the coveted five star crash test rating in Global NCAP’s latest update to #SaferCarsForIndia campaign.

According to GlobalNCAP, "the protection offered to the driver and passenger’s head and neck was good. Driver’s chest showed marginal protection while passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. Driver and passenger’s knees showed good protection. The bodyshell was rated as stable and it was capable of withstanding further loadings."
The car offers standard SBR (seatbelt reminder) for driver and standard ABS, said GlobalNCAP, adding that the car offers SBR for the passenger but it does not meet Global NCAP requirements.
While talking about performance with child occupant, it said, "The child seat for the 3 year old was installed forward facing with ISOFIX and top tether and was not able to prevent excessive forward movement during the impact leaving the head vulnerable while fair protection was offered to the chest. The 18 month old CRS (child restraint system) was installed with ISOFIX and leg support rearward facing and it showed good protection for head and chest. The recommended CRS did not show incompatibility."

The vehicle offers standard ISOFIX and top tether anchorages in the 2 outboard rear seats and offers 3 point belts in all seating positions. Passenger airbag disconnection is possible, it added in concluding remarks.
The Marazzo is currently positioned between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta and is giving the two cars stiff challenge. Mahindra Marazzo's price in India starts at Rs 9.99 lakh and reaches up to Rs 13.90 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top variant. The auto firm is likely to raise Marazzo prices in India in the range of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 from January 2019.
