Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI) has announced the 2nd edition of India's Biggest Bus & Car travel Show for Public Transport - Prawaas 2019. The 3-day event aims to bring together leading Bus & Car Operators from across India in eight important segments viz; Intercity, Intracity, School Bus, Employee Transport, Tour Operators, Tourists Cabs, Maxi Cabs and PPP-SPVs. Prawaas 2019 is scheduled to be held in July 25-27, 2019 at CIDCO Convention & Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. "The central theme of 2nd Edition of Prawaas is “Towards SAFE, SMART, SUSTAINABLE Passenger Mobility” and will bring the stakeholders on one platform viz; Operators, Manufacturers, STUs, Policy Makers, Regulators, sector experts and media," according to an official statement.
The event will feature Exhibition, Electric Mobility Showcase, Buyer-Seller Meet Conference, Workshops, Leadership Conclave, Secretaries Round Table, Awards, Bus & Car Auction.
Commenting on the occasion, KT Rajashekhara, Chairman of BOCI, stated, “India’s Bus & Car Operators, fleet owners from private sector have come together to form Bus Operators Confederation of India. Today over 80% Public transport on Roads is provided by BOCI members with combined fleet strength of about 15 Lakh buses and 11 lakh cars. There is an urgent need for the Central and State governments to accord top priority to Bus Transport and create conducive ecosystem that will bring ease of business and attract investments. Amongst all the States, Karnataka is most progressive however it is important that the state government works closely with private sector and strengthen the Public Transport system in Intracity, Intercity, Employee transport, school buses, as well as Tourist Cars and maxi cabs. Ease of Travel will be achieved only when government will address policy and regulatory issues, reduce taxation which at present is hurting commuters, offer better infrastructure and encourage public private partnership.”
Prasanna Patwardhan, President of BOCI, said, “Prawaas 2019 has a lot to offer for all stakeholders of passenger transport. This year we aim to open dialogue with policy makers to pave way for lasting solutions. It is important in our country to shift the focus from ‘Moving Vehicles’ to ‘Moving People’. This will require major transformation in the way government treats Public Transport. We are way behind global standards. Leading nations have minimum 6 buses for 1000 passengers while in India it is lower than 1 Bus per 1000 passenger. This is a Central as well as State government subject and BOCI will take lead in working closely with government agencies to develop Unified Vision for the country to address the challenge of providing safe, Smart and sustainable Public transport to 1.3 billion people.”
