The updated 911 line-up, under the 992.2 generation, is now up for grabs in India, featuring two distinct variants. The base model, the Carrera, enters the market with a starting price of Rs 1.99 crore, while the Carrera 4 GTS commands a higher price tag of Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom). Enthusiasts can anticipate deliveries of the Carrera to commence by the end of the year.

This iteration marks not a new generation for the 911 but a comprehensive update to the current 992 generation. The highlight of the 992.2 is undoubtedly the introduction of a hybridised powertrain, exclusive to the GTS model. The traditional flat-six engine receives an upgrade in displacement, now boasting 3.6-liters compared to the previous 3.0-liters, and incorporates an e-turbo system, effectively reducing turbo lag.

Moreover, the GTS model is equipped with an additional electric motor integrated into its eight-speed PDK gearbox, augmenting power output. This sophisticated system draws power from a 1.9kWh battery pack, strategically positioned in the front section. Despite the technological advancements, there's no provision for an electric-only drive mode in this "T-Hybrid" configuration. The combined output of the enhanced engine and electric motors culminates in a staggering 534bhp and 610Nm of torque.

In contrast, the standard Carrera maintains its 3.0-liter flat-six engine but receives upgrades in the form of a new intercooler and turbochargers, resulting in a power boost to 390bhp and 450Nm of torque.

Visually, both variants feature subtle refinements, including redesigned headlamps, tweaked bumpers, repositioned exhaust tips, and updated interior elements such as a revamped driver's display and the inclusion of a push-button start, a first for the 911 line-up. Notably, the GTS model boasts active flaps on the front bumper, enhancing aerodynamics and performance.

With the refreshed 911 line-up making its global debut and promptly arriving in India, enthusiasts can anticipate the availability of the entire range shortly after their respective world premieres. Porsche continues to redefine luxury performance, setting new benchmarks in automotive excellence.
