Ola Electric expands into commercial segment with new e-scooter launch, check price
The Gig range has been designed to address the needs of gig workers involved in both shorter and longer trips through two variants -- Gig and Gig+ -- with introductory prices of Rs 39,999 and Rs 49,999 (ex-showroom), respectively.
Ola Electric has officially entered the commercial segment with the launch of its new 'Gig' range of e-scooters, priced at Rs 39,999. The company unveiled this move on Tuesday, targeting gig workers who rely on electric vehicles for short- and long-distance travel.
The 'Gig' series features two variants: 'Gig' and 'Gig+', priced at Rs 39,999 and Rs 49,999 (ex-showroom), respectively. These scooters are specifically designed for gig workers, with the 'Gig' model catering to those who travel shorter distances. It offers a range of 112 km on a single charge, a top speed of 25 km/h, and is equipped with a removable 1.5 kWh battery and a hub motor.
The 'Gig+' variant is aimed at gig workers covering longer distances with heavier payloads. It boasts a top speed of 45 km/h and comes with a removable single/dual battery (1.5 kWh), offering a range of 81 km.
Ola Electric has stated that the 'Gig' range will be available for business-to-business (B2B) purchases and rentals, expanding its presence in the commercial vehicle market.
In addition to the commercial scooters, Ola Electric launched its S1 Z series, comprising two variants — 'S1 Z' and 'S1 Z+' — priced at Rs 59,999 and Rs 64,999, respectively. The S1 Z range is tailored for urban commuters who prioritize style, performance, and convenience, while the S1 Z+ is a dual-use electric scooter suitable for both personal and light commercial use, offering a robust design for everyday demands.
Both the S1 Z and S1 Z+ scooters feature removable dual 1.5 kWh batteries with a range of 75 km and a top speed of 70 km/h.
Additionally, Ola Electric introduced the PowerPod, a portable inverter priced at Rs 9,999, which can power homes using its batteries.
Commenting on the launches, Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of Ola Electric, said, "With the launch of the Ola Gig and S1 Z range of scooters, we will further accelerate EV adoption, catering to a wide range of personal and commercial use cases with affordability, reliability, and safety as the core pillars."
