India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has reported a 4.3 per cent rise in production in November. According to a regulatory filing by Maruti Suzuki India, "The company produced 1,41,834 units in November 2019, compared to 1,35,946 units manufactured during the same period a year-ago.

Passenger vehicle segment

In the passenger vehicle segment, the automobile major manufactured 1,39,084 units last month, compared to 134,149 units in November 2018.

Utility vehicles segment

The company produced 27,187 units in the utility vehicles segment, over the comparative November 2018 figures of 23,038 units. The segment consists of Gypsy, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL-6 and S-Cross models.

Compact vehicles segment

In the compact vehicles segment, which includes New WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, OEM Model and Dzire, the company produced 78,133 units in November. During the same period last year, the company had manufactured 65,754 units.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki had confirmed that it will recall 63,493 Petrol Smart Hybrid variants of Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 models. 

The company will inspect 63,493 vehicles of petrol SHVS of Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 for a possible issue with the Motor Generator Unit (MGU). A possible defect may have occurred in the MGU during manufacturing by an overseas global part supplier, the car maker said.

"Keeping in mind customer safety and as a responsible corporate, Maruti Suzuki India Limited today announced to proactively and voluntarily undertake a recall for certain petrol Smart Hybrid (SHVS) variants of Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 vehicles manufactured between 1st January 2019 to 21st November 2019," the car maker said in a statement.
