Indias largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has declared its sales figures for the month of October 2019.
India's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has declared its sales figures for the month of October 2019. According to the data shared by Maruti Suzuki India, the car maker sold a total of 153,435 units in October 2019. The figure of 153,435 units include 141,550 units in domestic market, 2,727 units of domestic OEM sales and 9,158 units of exports.
*Clarifications:
1. Effective April 2019, Sales to other OEM have commenced and are reported as ‘Sales to other OEM’.
Total Domestic Sales (Domestic + OEM) and Total Sales (Domestic + Exports) may be viewed in this context.
2. Effective February 2019, sales of new WagonR (full model change, now also with bigger engine and
increased length) are reported under the compact sub-segment. The sales number of old WagonR (now
discontinued) are however, reported in the mini sub-segment. Sales numbers for the mini and compact
sub-segment may be viewed in this context.
3. XL6 launched in August 2019 and S-Presso launched in September 2019.
In the month of September 2019, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 122,640 units. This includes 112,500 units in domestic market, 2,952 units of domestic OEM sales and 7,188 units of exports.
Earlier, on Oct 24th, the Board of Directors of Maruti Suzuki India Limited had approved the financial results for the period July-September 2019 (Quarter 2) and April-September 2019-20.
Highlights: Quarter 2 (July-September 2019-20)
The Company sold a total of 338,317 vehicles during the Quarter, lower by 30.2% compared to the same period previous year. Sales in the domestic market stood at 312,519 units, lower by 31.4%. Exports were at 25,798 units.
During the Quarter, the Company registered Net Sales of Rs. 161,204 million, lower by 25.2% compared to the same period previous year.
Net profit for the Quarter stood at Rs. 13,586 million, lower by 39.4% compared to the same period previous on account of lower sales volume, higher sales promotion expenses and higher depreciation expenses, partially offset by cost reduction efforts, higher fair value gains on invested surplus and reduction in corporate tax rate.
Highlights: H1 (April-September 2019-20)
The Company sold a total of 740,911 vehicles during the period, lower by 24% compared to the same period previous year. Sales in the domestic market stood at 687,000 units, lower by 25.3%. Exports were at 53,911 units.
During the period, the Company registered Net Sales of Rs. 348,556 million, lower by 19.6% compared to the same period previous year.
Net profit for the period stood at Rs. 27,941 million, lower by 33.7% compared to the same period previous on account of lower sales volume, higher sales promotion expenses and higher depreciation expenses, partially offset by cost reduction efforts, higher fair value gains on invested surplus and reduction in corporate tax rate.
