It's a massive feat for Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as the car has logged cumulative sales of 5 lakh units in 8 years and thereby, it has become India’s best-selling urban MPV.
According to Maruti Suzuki, first generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga clocked sales of 418,128 units in 7 years. And, the second generation garnered 100,000 units in just 13 months. Not only this, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga's overwhelming sales help enhance Maruti Suzuki India Limited's (MSIL) share in MPV segment from 25.3 % to 50.3 %.
Speaking on the clocking 500,000 sales in 8 years, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Ertiga created a niche for itself as a 3-row comfortable MPV to become a runaway success. Its success helped us to strengthen market presence in the MPV segment. Ertiga is a market leader with 36% market share amongst MPVs and its leadership continues with support from customers.”
"With aspirational design, focus on safety and superior performance, it (brand Ertiga)) has been recognised for its excellent road performance and best-in-class fuel-efficiency," MSIL said in a statement.
After the success of first generation Ertiga, the company introduced next generation Ertiga in 2018 with aspirational new design, premium interiors and powerful new engine options.
"Ertiga is high on safety with Suzuki’s 5th Generation HEARTECT Platform and is equipped with an array of safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors etc. as standard fitment across all variants," adds Maruti Suzuki.
