Confidential images depicting Ola Electric's soon-to-be-released e-scooters, scheduled for launch on August 15, have reportedly surfaced, leading CEO Bhavish Aggarwal to request an apology from the individual responsible for the leak. Aggarwal also indicated that in the future, the electric vehicle company might reconsider sharing their products with journalists prior to the official launch.
The images in question, likely showcasing the Ola S1X e-scooter, were initially intended for an automotive media event held by the company on Monday. According to Aggarwal, the content from this event was under embargo and meant to remain confidential.
In a tweet, Aggarwal expressed his frustration, highlighting how such actions undermine the credibility of the automotive media. He stated, "Auto media does their own credibility a massive disservice when they sneakily take photos at a confidential event. Breaks the trust the brand places in them. We work really hard to make great products and entertaining events for our customers and delight them. Such instances can't have any place in a mature ecosystem."
Aggarwal went on to declare that unless the responsible party is identified and an unlikely apology is issued, the company will refrain from previewing their products to auto journalists before official launch events. Instead, journalists will only have access to the products after they've been unveiled to customers during launch events.
Recent reports suggest that following the launch of the S1 Air, Ola is preparing to introduce the S1X electric scooter. This model is anticipated to serve as an entry-level option, with a starting price of less than Rs 1 lakh. Currently, Ola offers electric scooters including the S1 Pro, S1, and S1 Air to consumers.
Last week, Aggarwal tweeted, "Ola Community, mark your calendar. On 15th August, we're celebrating Customer Day with the most electrifying event of the year - End ICE age Part 1. The doors of the FutureFactory will be open for you."
