Kinetic to relaunch Luna in its EV avatar
Kinetic said that the new Luna would be in the affordability range and would be a fully Make in India brand.
Kinetic Luna was a popular moped in Indian villages and towns till the late 1990s. However, as the bike and scooter markets in the same time period started growing, Luna fell into oblivion, and the company ended its production in the early 2000s. However, the moped will soon hit the market, this time in its electric vehicle (EV) avatar.
Kinetic will soon launch Luna under the name of e Luna.
The company didn't reveal its launch date, but it is highly likely to be in the second quarter.
The company said that it was moving forward with the old brand.
It said that the new Luna would be in the affordability range and would be a fully Make in India brand.
The company said that it would not be an overhaul of the old version of the moped, but a completely new moped.
While the company's focus for Luna is on performance, it said that it has designed the moped keeping urban traffic, young people, and the working class in mind.
Kinetic said that it had received all necessary approvals from the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
The company said it has also applied for FAME subsidy and would possibly get them by next week.
Luna EV has begun production as a pilot and has already produced 100 vehicles. The company said that it had formulated a strategy for mass production.
