Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover today launched a special edition of its Jaguar XJ model for Rs 1.11 crore in India. The special edition, XJ50, will be available in long wheelbase with 3-litre diesel engine option, said a company statement. Notably, the auto major commemorated 50 years of the company's flagship luxury saloon.

Commenting on the launch, Jaguar Land Rover India president and managing director Rohit Suri stated, "The Jaguar XJ has always been the epitome of Jaguar's focus on luxury and excellence. With the XJ50, we have raised the bar once again, paying homage to one of the world's most stylish sporting saloons."

The anniversary edition will said to have features including unique intaglio branding and XJ50-badged illuminated treadplates, alongside anodised gearshift paddles and bright metal pedals. 

Last week, Tata Motors Ltd’s British unit Jaguar Land Rover had reportedly said it would cut 500 jobs temporarily at its plant in central England. 

The company's Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, central England will take a temporary pause in production, in response to adjustments in vehicle production schedules, Britain’s biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover had on Thursday said, adding the “external environment remains challenging” and the company is taking decisive actions to achieve the necessary operational efficiencies to safeguard long-term success.

Further, the company had said that maintenance and salaried staff will continue as normal, while adding that those affected will continue to receive full pay for the period.
