IIT Kanpur and NATRAX partners to combat vehicle emissions
The MoU signing ceremony, held recently, saw Dr. Manish Jaiswal, Director of NATRAX, and Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, formalize the partnership.
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) and the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in Real Drive Emission (RDE), Emission Norms, and potential future endeavors.
The MoU signing ceremony, held recently, saw Dr. Manish Jaiswal, Director of NATRAX, and Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, formalise the partnership.
This strategic alliance is poised to revolutionise automotive research, particularly in the realm of Vehicular Emissions. The focus will be on aligning with Emission Norms, notably the latest EU Standards, and facilitating knowledge exchange to craft innovative solutions beneficial for the industry's future.
Expressing enthusiasm, Prof. Tarun Gupta remarked, "The collaboration with NATRAX presents a remarkable opportunity to bridge academic research with practical application. Addressing vehicular emissions is paramount for cleaner and sustainable transportation solutions.
By amalgamating IIT Kanpur's emissions expertise with NATRAX's cutting-edge testing infrastructure, we can expedite the development of pioneering solutions to meet automotive industry demands. This partnership will empower the Indian automotive sector to compete globally while nurturing the next wave of automotive engineers and researchers."
Echoing similar sentiments, Dr. Manish Jaiswal stated, "We envisage this collaboration focusing on developing technologies and platforms aiding industry in the design and real-time test analysis of automotive vehicles. Ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible technology utilisation will be paramount, upholding the highest industry standards."
Expanding beyond the initial agreement, future collaborations are slated to delve into new regulations concerning battery disposal, Engine and Flex Fuels, and transportation safety. Additionally, both entities have committed to establishing internship programs for M.Tech students from IIT Kanpur at NATRAX, fostering hands-on learning opportunities in automotive research and development.
